Smart Families — Promo Script
Scene: Rachael & Robert, enjoying coffee with Rachael's parents, in the dining room at home. Robert is serving (because some of his dialogue comes from a distance, e.g. from the kitchen). Opens with Rachael talking to the camera.

RachaelIf you're like us, you probably feel like you're never going to get into your own home.
As she's finishing, add a floating name on/above/next to her: "Rachael, 24".
RachaelI mean, we both work, but with our rent, shopping, bills, and all the other day-to-day expenses, we just didn't seem to be getting anywhere saving for a deposit.
Background coffee serving, drinking activity, etc.
RobertEspecially as a lot of banks want, like, 10%. In our area, that means we'd have to save $40,000!
Has to come across as a natural comment — the way couples help each other out and build on each other's contributions. Add a floating name on/above/next to him: "Robert, 26".
RachaelYeah.
RobertIt's just not realistic.
RachaelBut did you know your parents can help without putting their own home at risk by going guarantor?
Transition briefly to casually smiling / coffee-drinking parents, with floating name tag: "Rachael's parents" (just a touch of the indulgently long-suffering 'we do a lot for our kids' look). Then back to Rachael and Robert.
RobertAnd you still get the First Home Owner Grant and a good interest rate.
RachaelBecause they're not 'giving' you the deposit, and their names aren't on the mortgage.
Transition briefly to father, chuckling into his cup, then back.
RachaelIt's a new home loan product…
RobertAn Australian-first actually…
Convey as an 'incidental' comment, peripheral to the main thread of the discussion.
RachaelFrom Bluebay Finance, called Smart Families. It's a normal home loan, but you borrow part of the deposit…
RobertOR ALL!
Robert interrupts (shouting) from the kitchen?
Rachael…or all of the deposit, from your parents, which can be anything up to 20% of the cost of your new home.
Rachael smiles patiently to acknowledge the interruption — part of the healthy, endearing couple dynamic. Like he's always such a stickler for the details…
FatherAnd it's a formal loan too, with interest!
Mock greedy, laughing, perhaps rubbing his hands together.
FatherNot as MUCH interest as I'd like…
Winks at daughter (in a wholesome, likeable way).
Fatherbut better than nothing.
MotherObviously the important thing here is that Rachael gets her loan. We can lend her as much as she needs…
Politely (good-naturedly) pulling father into line.
FatherOr as much as she deserves!
Mischievous interruption.
Mother…There's no set amount, and our house isn't on the line.
Pointedly ignores father's interruption.
RachaelAnd because it's not the bank lending the deposit, you can save on mortgage insurance, and the repayments are lower.
MotherWhich means the loan is far more likely to be approved, to begin with.
Imagine her clapping her palm on the table and nodding, indicating closure — as if that ties it all up.
RobertAaannnnd… They're too polite to say it, but a Smart Families loan also means if Rachael and I ever break up, I don't ride off into the sunset with half their money!
Said as he's re-seating himself at the table, in a 'this has to be said' way that shows he's completely OK with that concern.
RachaelBut as mum says, the important thing is you finally get your first home loan.
MotherAnd smart families help each other.
FatherAnd smart parents run for the hills!
Almost muttered under his breath, then laughing.
RachaelSo if you're having trouble saving for your deposit…
Ignores dad / rolls eyes?
MotherOr you think your kids could do with a bit of a helping hand…
Interrupts with a 'don't forget it's our duty too' look.
